Fabulous Fifty Clutch knitting kit

Fabulous Fifty Clutch is the first in a series of knitting designs that came to life around my 50th birthday.

It all started with a pink sweater with ruffles on the sleeves, which I knitted because I wanted it to match my big pink tulle skirt. And once I had started knitting ruffles, I got a little bit hooked. This has now resulted in this lovely and slightly quirky clutch.

Fabulous Fifty Clutch is knitted with 3 strands of my own Kid Mohair & Alpaca Mix yarn. It is knitted from the bottom up using the Magic Loop method or on a small circular needle. Along the way, stitches are increased to create the characteristic ruffles, which are finished with contrasting bind-off edges.

The clutch closes with a zip at the top, and finally the included lining is attached.

I have put together the colours for the ruffles to give you just the right Fabulous Fifty effect. If you choose the Cream White knitting kit, the 4 small balls for the contrasting bind-off edges are Icy Mint, Candyfloss, Sunkissed Yellow and Super Green. If you choose a different main colour, the contrasting colours will of course be adapted to match it.

Clutch measures: 27 x 18 cm.

Recommended needles: 5.5 mm and 4.5 mm circular needles, 80 cm, plus a 5.5 mm circular needle, 80 cm.

• 75 g Kid Mohair & Alpaca Mix (35% WM, 35% WP, 30% PA)
• 4 small balls of Kid Mohair & Alpaca Mix for the contrasting bind-off edges
• 1 ready-made dusty pink lining in organic cotton, ready to be attached
• 1 zip
